Then a beautiful weekend day with cooler weather called for a trip into Old Town for ice cream and hanging out along the Potomac! (Side note: watching them climb on these very small rocks, in comparison to the crazy large rocks my brother and I used to navigate along the ocean's edge in Monterey, gives me a newfound appreciation for my parents allowing our adventurous spirits! My heart stops watching their little feet clamoring up the uneven rocks, so close to the water! Definitely working on letting them explore without having a heart attack!)
And a HUGE thing happened in the beginning of July!!!
We largely blame ourselves for Maelee not learning to ride her bike sooner, as we literally only gave it a few attemps over these past few years, but we knew she was at the age and ability that it wouldn't take much for it to just "click." So on a Sunday afternoon, Steve took her to a nearby park with a large, grassy area, and a looping road around it, and sure enough, it clicked almost immediately.
Video of her first bike ride HERE
Pardon the sideways views, but poor Steve was doing his best running alongside her! So proud of her!!!
More sprayground fun after our OBX beach week!
And more ice cream!
2nd VBS of the summer was another smashing success!
Water play on a rainy day!
This time Ollie let go and trusted just his arm swimmies!
Little ice cream shindig with the neighbors to give our biggest "well wishes" to Marcel who broke his arm so badly that he needed surgery!
Another treat at the end of July was seeing Mee-Maw & Grandpa after they flew in to Dulles from a cruise!
Ollie was beyond esctatic over the new handmade dump truck from Grandpa!
And summer is already finishing up!
