One semester down and hopefully just three more to go!!! Woo-hoo!!! I have finished my first semester at Stony Brook and couldn't be happier. It was definitely a great experience, but boy, am I ready for a break! And the spring semester doesn't begin until the last week of January (can you see my grin through the screen???). I can't wait to finally practice again- talk about irony, huh! ? !
In addition to celebrating the completion of this semester, it was also fun to celebrate my sweet hubby's big 3-0 birthday last week! We had a nice steak dinner on his actual b-day on Thursday, then Friday night we had a party with about 30 or so friends. Yes, 30. Yes, in our little digs. It worked though and we had a blast.
Taking from Shawna's great idea from her hubby's 30th, I made a game called "30 things I think I know about Steve" where I made a list of over 60 statements and everyone had to choose 30 they thought were true. It was pretty funny. Especially seeing the concentration on everyone's faces...
Then I had people come up with 3 adjectives they'd use to describe Steve.

That's my man- all of the above. Hehe, especially "silky smooth." ;)

We are doing our best to incorporate some of those ideas into our Christmas gift-giving this year, especially by buying gifts that are socially and/or environmentally responsible and donating to various charities in others' names. We've encouraged our family to do the same and encourage you to as well! Check out "Some thoughts to Ponder" to the right if you want some gift ideas!
It's such a different way of thinking of things and we're by no means authorities; it's definitely a challenge to get out of our consumerism-plagued ways, but we gotta start somewhere!!! Please check out the video- it is quite inspiring...
Next Monday we're off for the crazy travels of the season seeing both families, plus my Too-daddy's annual Christmas Eve celebration, and the "Metheny Christmas" (my dad's side of the fam) in one week, ending with my parents and brother riding back up with us the following Mon to spend a couple days in NYC. I'm sure more on that will come.
Whew - gotta love the holidays...
