Rehoboth Rides & Massanutten Mountains

The summer posts are finally nearing an end- I'm combining two sweet weekend trips for this one, and then maybe one final, massive summer's end post will finish up the season.  When you have a mama that takes dozens too many pics, then attempts to be organized and thoughtful with them, and combine it with the busyness of life,  you get blog posts that are way backed up...

So here goes with a recap of a quick overnighter to DE to see Too-Dad & Too-Mom and take in an afternoon of fun at Rehoboth beach, followed by our long weekend trip to the Massanutten Resort in the Shenandoah Valley where we got to see extended family on Pop-Pop's side.

First stop- DE!

We always love our time at Too-Dad & Too-Mom's!

After a VERY long drive, we loved every bite of our Grotto's pizza once we got to the beach!

And Lilee was so excited to get to enjoy any ride she could!

We were shocked that Maelee beat the odds with one of those claw arcade games.

And so pleasantly surprised and touched at her generosity in giving her Gizmo prize to Lilee.

Lilee was quite grateful and he definitely helped with the nap!

More rides for Maelee!

And another win!

Refreshed and ready to go after a quick snooze

LOVED riding the fire trucks together!!!

After a super fun but very long day,
these girls literally crashed as soon as we got through the door.

The trip was last-minute, and super quick, but worth every moment!

A few weeks later, we spent several days in the beautiful mountains of Massanutten through my parent's timeshare.  After a crazy 24 hr bug that wiped out Lilee and thwarted our initial driving plans (but gave Maelee the special treat of an earlier arrival with Nana & Pop-Pop), we got in on a Saturday morning and stayed through Tuesday evening.  Joined by my dad's sister and her family (three of their four boys and their families, with 8 kids between them!), we had an awesome time reconnecting and enjoying God's beautiful creation.  Maelee absolutely LOVED getting to know her 2nd cousins and was over the moon over her various encounters with wild animals- including feeding the local deer by hand!!!  It was a great mini-vacation.

On the upstairs room's patio- in the trees!

Hi, little deer family!

Hi, cousins!!! :)

After a laid back Saturday spent at the pool and with the fam, our little group of four went down to Natural Bridge, VA the next day to an awesome Safari Park where we got to drive past the wildlife and feed them from the car!

Look closely... Poor Maelee.
After a fierce tug of war between daddy and a large breed of antelope, daddy may have won,  but Maelee got stuck with the spoils.

Lilee was tickled seeing all the creatures come up to her window!

More fun interactions after the drive-through

Including a fun meet and greet with a binturong!

And Maelee was thrilled to get so up close and personal with the birds.

Fun for Lilee, too!

It was a pretty cool afternoon.

There was plenty of chill time, and play time back in our unit, too...

Lilee adores her Pop-Pop!

Enjoying Uncle Bob/Bumpa's games with the cousins...

Maelee was not interested in the nature obstacle course on the resort but Lilee wanted to come along and support the cousins!
Little Luke loved Lilee!!!

Eva, Lainey, Luke, Lilee, and Dre

She loves dirt and she loves water... so this was great!

Back at the unit, Maelee was happily bonding with the deer family again...

And fed one right out of her hand!
Crazy!!!

During our last full day with all the 1st and 2nd cousins together, the grandfolks graciously offered to watch all 10 kiddos so the parents could go out for a lunch date.  We had an awesome time bonding over delicious donuts and wings, and the kids enjoyed pizza and a movie.

Pizza, pizza!
She's not a big eater, but she likes her cheese!!!

From youngest to oldest!

When we got the pic of all the kiddos while finishing up lunch at the restaurant, we decided we'd try to imitate it!  Steve and I both looked the wrong way, (I'm trying to mimic Lilee's pose while Steve copied Maelee's) but other than that, I think we were pretty close!

Movie time!

Hyper time!

And time to crash...

The grandparents had a great time with those kids (and those kids had an awesome time with the grandparents!) and we had a great time out.

Some final fun in the water!

Some final fun with the fam :)

This special trip included lots of good food, conversations, play time, and nature and we are so grateful for it!  We're already looking forward to when we can see these cousins again.  August filled up quickly and fall is already quickly passing by.  More pics of more fun day trips to come!

The slideshow again in case you stopped after Rehoboth the first time through! :)
