Indiana: Jones!

A couple of weeks ago, our family of three hopped on a plane (Maelee’s first plane ride!) for a visit to Goshen, Indiana to see Steve’s “Grandpa Jones.” Despite battling cancer, he was thrilled to meet Maelee and we were so happy to get to visit with him and his wife, Berdean, and for our little girl to meet her Grandpa Great. It ended up being quite the Jones family reunion as Steve’s parents (Mee-Maw & Grandpa) were both there, along with his sister, Kim, as well as Steve’s mom’s brother (Karl) and sister (Karen) and Karl's daughter (Rachel) and newborn baby (Jaxon), and Karen's husband (Jim)! Did you get all that? :)

Aside from the occasional whimper over some difficulty in napping, Maelee did great on the plane and made some instant friends with her smiling and waving. She wasn’t a fan of napping the entire trip in fact, so while that was a little frustrating for mommy & daddy, it actually provided for some very sweet moments of giving in and just letting her snooze on our chests. Ah, we’ve missed those moments. She was a trooper though and was in her happy mood pretty much the whole trip. We enjoyed several meals and good times together. Steve especially enjoyed his daddy/daughter breakfast dates while I either snoozed or showered. Sweet. We had some yummy Dairy Queen blizzards and got a taste of the midwest. It was great to see everyone.

Last day- enjoying time together :)

It was a fun trip and we were proud of our little girl on her first flight.

The 12th month has so far been pretty awesome. I'll save the majority of the updates for the upcoming "12th month" post but she's been so sweet and friendly lately and such a joy. She is communicating more and more with words (or word attempts- so sweet!!!) and other noises, pointing, gestures, etc. We decided to call the first "official" word- apple (!) or aaaapoool- the day after she turned 11 months. She specifically said the word while looking at the object and has since pointed to any and every apple she sees while excitedly saying it in her adorable, little way. Whether it's the glowing apple with a bite taken out of it on the back of Steve's mac computer, or the photograph of an apple in the kitchen, or the drawing of an apple in one of her books, she now loves that piece of fruit!!!

I can not believe she turns one year old next week. Really? Gonna take a while to process that one. Until then...
