Thankful x2!

We ventured down to North Carolina for Thanksgiving this year to be with Steve's folks, Mee-Maw & Grandpa, and sister, Aunt Kim. :)  Our plan to make the drive a little easier by leaving around the girls' bedtime didn't exactly go as planned with our visions of them sleeping peacefully for the majority of the ride (sigh...) but traffic could've been worse, and they could've been fussier, so when we arrived a little after midnight, we were just glad we made it!

Mee-Maw had a special activity planned for the girls the next day of ginger bread house decorating, complete with personalized aprons and chef's hats.  They were so cute!

 "Mee-Maw's Helper"

Maelee loved making her house colorful!

And Lilee was adorable- putting a few candies on herself or pointing exactly where she wanted Mee-Maw to put something :)

 So proud of her creation!

Finishing it up another day
Two beautiful houses!

Maelee was tickled to meet the next door neighbors who also had a daughter in Kindergarten!
The two played together the majority of the first day we were there.

The beautiful weather made for lots of fun outdoor play!

 Indoor fun with Grandpa!

We loved spending some of the afternoon before Thanksgiving dinner at the nearby park and playground.  The beautiful foliage made for a perfect photo-op!

 One of my favorites!

 Playtime!

 Speedy ladies!

 Roller girls!!!

We weren't sure how Thanksgiving dinner was going to go as Lilee was crashing and not at all interested in sitting in her chair... But, we decided to just let her sit on Steve's lap and she ended up being as happy as could be!  She tried (and liked!) pretty much everything on his plate.

Delicious!

Maelee LOVED the turkey!!!

And of course both girls loved the pumpkin pie and Mee-Maw's apple ice cream!

 sweet family time :)

 Full bellies and full smiles!

The next day, we went to the edge of the street and into the woods!  Some nice little time exploring...

And then some more fun with the neighbors in the gorgeous weather!

 WEEE!!!

So happy to see Aunt Kim!

And so happy to see Mee-Maw & Grandpa, too!

In keeping with our new annual tradition of "2nd Thanksgiving/Thanksmas," we had another feast the Sunday after Thanksgiving at my parent's home, and enjoyed the succulent left-overs that come with it!  This year, we invited Mandy and little Holland to join in on the fun and the girls loved having their little "cousin" over!  Lilee is so adorable with her and excitedly yells, "Hollin!" anytime she sees a baby (including herself in older photos!). More delicious food, more great company.  It was another great evening with lots to be thankful for!

 Reading to Holland

 All smiles!

 Diggin' in :)

iPhone fun...

 Nana's handful!

 Lilee's new "cheese" expression :)

 3 little cuties!

 Yum!

 More family photos!

Two delicious feasts and lots of good times with both sides of our immediate families this year.  Excited to see more family tomorrow for Christmas Eve in DE!!!

Lots of play during November's days!

November didn't have as many weekend activities as October and December, but it still had plenty of stories and plenty of fun.  Thanksgiving memories will be saved for the next post so I'll keep this one to the rest of the month.

Lilee had lots of sweet play with her little friends and Maelee had some special, individual time with mommy, with daddy, and with Nana & Pop-Pop!  With both Steve and my mom out of town the first weekend of the month, my dad and us girls had some fun memories between a crazy Alexandria City Public Schools event (that was shoulder to shoulder packed and ran out of the promised free pizza resulting in a late run to McD's) and Lilee deciding not to nap for Pop-Pop while Maelee and I had an afternoon together, insisting on sitting in the bathtub to play...The 2nd weekend of the month, we all enjoyed an awesome visit from my cousin, Sam, and his family- Kim and boys, Mason & Lane.

Onto the pics!
Enjoying a Halloween candy treat :)

With pals Alden & Logan on the trampoline,
as part of a "babysitting share" we do with a couple ladies from church!

Best pal, Chloe, on our Friday playdates!

 Yay for fall foliage!

One morning Lilee presented me with "cups" and "spoons" of veggie pairs that she found. So cute!!!

Maelee's and my afternoon out to a little festival (while Lilee refused to nap for Pop-Pop...)
which included a petting zoo,

face paint- where she insisted on being a black cat-,

(I think she has the cutest little nose but man, with this face paint, all I see is NOSE! Ha)

and a pony ride!
It was a fun little afternoon.

Oh, how this girl loves this cat, and how much more tolerant he has become!

More trampoline fun at a Kindergarten friend's bday party!

Sam & Kim and their boys made a sweet visit to Alexandria in the middle of the month and came over on a Sat evening, with Sam's other cousin, Mandy and her precious Holland.  The kids were hilarious and had a blast together, and we loved hanging out!

So grateful to be close by- these girls adore their little "cousin!"

And Maelee sure loves Mason & Lane, too.
The whole crew

 The little-ests :)

Enjoying night night stories during one of our Sunday night dinners at Nana & Pop-Pop's:)

Steve & Maelee had a super sweet daddy/daughter date night in the middle of the month to watch our alma mater's swim meet!
 Go Retrievers!
Maelee loved meeting the amazing gal who won her events by a long shot- bonus!

We discovered a cool park recently that's going to be great for teaching the girls to ride bikes!
 It's a start!

Showing off her lollipop-blue tongue during intermission of Rogers & Hamerstein's Cinderella!!!
So grateful for her special date with Nana & Pop-Pop to an amazing production in DC!

 We are blessed!

Trying out bowling for the first time at a Kindergarten friend's bday party!

And that just about sums up last month!  Let's see if I can get the Thanksgiving post up before Christmas!
