Adventures in August!

Looks like I'm on right on schedule with two months overdue posts :) So let's back track to August.

This summer ended with an eventful month, even outside of our fun weekend trips from the previous post!  As usual, I'll try to keep it heavier on the pics, lighter on the words.  (But, please note, I did say try...)

The 1st day of the month was filled with fun, starting with a breakfast celebration for my mom's bday, followed by an afternoon at the National Museum of Natural History where Maelee was literally overjoyed at seeing the real (once alive...) angler fish!  Various different species, too!

Happy Birthday, mom!

Fun little walk to the museum

And, jackpot!

Loves the glub glub fishies!

Excited to hold some little critters, too :)

The busy weekend continued with a little open house fair hosted by the Signature Theater from our old neighborhood in Shirlington Village.  Complete with a performance of various Disney songs, airbrush tattoos, balloon animals, and a bounce house!

So fierce!

Had to include this cute pic of Lilee- our little Miss Can Do spirit who LOVES putting on big sis's shoes! (and sometimes gets them on the right feet!)

The Tuesday after our weekend visit to the museum, Maelee and I enjoyed a Mommy & Me date back there, taking advantage of the free Tuesday butterfly exhibit.

She loves her angler pose!

Made her day!

Holding the critters again :)

Community "night out" at local playground with Lilee's favorite toys, and a magician for the big kids!

One of my favorite sights:)

The first Friday of the month, we got to meet some Pre-K friends at the Arlington County Fair AND hear Nana sing with her a capella group, Potomac Harmony Chorus!

Such a fun night!

We even got to have Gracie with us for the weekend!  The girls were thrilled as always even though poor Maelee didn't feel well for the first bit!  Thankfully, this sweet little doggie knows how to make these little ones feel better. :)

Maelee's marble art of a dog paw, herself, and her favorite dog!

One last walk before leaving her at Nana & Pop-Pop's

Playdate (with movie!) with BFF Laney :)

Loved my sweet time with this precious one during an art class in Old Town Maelee had in August

Maelee's art!

Another one of my favorite sights.
Can't get enough of these two playing together!

Towards the end of August, all upcoming Kindergartners got to take part in K-Prep, a week long program to get them ready to start elementary school!

Exciting times.

Happy to have neighbor and friend, Xavi, in the program with her.

New do' for the new school year!

More fun one-on-one time with Lilee
Playgrounds...

And painting.  She loves getting messy!

Swim classes!
Though not swimming yet, she made huge improvements going under the water!

Finally, after a Saturday breakfast at our favorite diner in Shirlington, we were pleasantly surprised to learn we showed up on the same day as the Wags & Whiskers Dog festival!

She was in heaven!

Our little dalmation

Which is what she has decided to be for Halloween this year! Not sure where that really came from, but she does love animals, especially dogs, and apparently the white with black spots variety.

And that sums up August!  And finishes up a pretty busy summer. The adventures have continued now that we have entered the autumn season!
